Several UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) evaluation reports have shown that West Africa faces significant problems related to the use of drugs.Africa has the youngest population on the richest continent of the world. However adolescent drug use in Africa has increased over the years. In Côte d'Ivoire, a school-based UNODC situation assessment survey reported early drug use in schools, resulting in poor school performance, disruptions and/or exclusions in schools and at the social and family level ... This alarming observation encouraged the Dr Dje-Bi Samedi and their partners to put in place drug prevention strategies and treatment in school for Ivoirian youth protection. Our process begins with a medically supervised detox, where patients are monitored every day and complete a thorough psychiatric evaluation to uncover the impact any preexisting mental illnesses may have had on the development of addiction. Based on the result we create a personalized treatment plan for each patient. Recovering from addiction is a lifelong process, because staying sober takes commitment and determination. It is essential to remain motivated to continue living a substance-free life. To succeed we have decided to enroll our Youth at the end of the treatment in the extra-curricular program developed by SFK and taught by Bright Consulting Advocacy in Cote d’Ivoire. Winning in the game of life is a life changing, this program shift the youth consciousness and restore the brain back to health.
